Is it possible to control the aperture with the aperture ring of a D type Nikon lens working with the Nikon Df Camera?
Thanks,
Henry.

I doubt it, but don't know for sure. I expect that any lens with a CPU chip would be recognized by the camera instantly upon mounting, and if the f-stop ring wasn't set at minimum aperture, the camera would display an error message.

Thanks and regards,
Vince

You can on the D800, so it may be possible on the Df as well. On the D800 it's f9 Customize command dials, then set to Aperture Ring.

I don't use the mode this way since most of my AF lenses are now the G type (why did they think this was a good idea) and I find it easier to keep the AF lenses functioning the same.

Having checked the online Df Instruction manual, I stand corrected:

Custom Setting f7: Customized Command Dials > Aperture Setting, when set to Aperture Ring transfers control to the aperture ring on CPU lenses, and the manual notes that type G and E lenses are still controlled by the Command Dial.

Sure you can. I use the aperture ring on all the lenses that have aperture ring on my Df. Works great, just like old time.
