I'd like to start printing, and there is a Meopta Axomat 4 colour head in mint condition that I can get almost for free. I know that the lens is the most important thing, so I've already bought Schneider Componon-S 50mm f/2.8. I probably need to get a different lensboard to attach this lens to Axomat, as it has different thread size, right? Do you guys think there might other problems with this set up, like focusing for example?

Is it just the colour head, or is it the enlarger equipped with the colour head?

Enlarger with the colour head, whole set, even with a spare bulb

As with the other Meopta enlargers of that format its standard lens carrier should be that of M39x1 as this is the thread used on the typical Meopta lenses. For some other, smaller lenses it even needs a reduction ring.

Thus I do not see a problem with your Componon.

Assuming you have the entire enlarger including the colour head, my guess is the enlarger will be able to take lenses with the standard 39 screw thread. The Componon has the same.

Meopta also made some high quality lenses: the Meogon 50mm and the Meogon 60mm, both opening at 5.6 which many times is not a disadvantage.

I have a Meopta with a condenser head, the lens board that it came with is not 39mm, I cant find my ruler, I think it's 25mm, I had it drilled out to take 39mm for my pair of Wallsack. The lens board reverses, one side for a 75mm the second side reverses for an recessed 50mm. The color head might be 39mm, I would look on line for a manual which might list which lens boards go with which lens.

You are right. I meanwhile, next to the reduction ting 39-23.5mm I hinted at above, found listed at Meopta a 23.5mm lens carrier.

So indeed, if the OP got this one he either has to have it turned wider (but it likely has a shorter tube length too), or get him the 39mm lens carrier.
