Hello!

I've a chance to buy a Yashica FX-103,
but it comes equipped with a Vivitar 57-205 1:3,8 lens.
I think I like the camera, but I'm not sure about the lens. I alreday have (well, it does not belong to me, but the man who owns it does not use it) a Solingor 70- 210 1:5,6 lens.
I'd like to know ir any of You can tell me anything about this Vivitar lens. Is it good/not so good?
Becaurs I'd more like to get the Carl Zeiss 50 1:1,4

Thanks!

I don't know about the Vivitar. Probably ok, but the Zeiss 50/1.4 is probably the sharpest lens on the planet.

Well, what bothers me is that I have to buy a lense that ir as twice as big and twice as heavy as my soligor. But ir it was an OK lense, I guess I would take the Yashica.

Give me the serial # on the lens, and I'll tell you who made it for Vivitar and when.

Vivitar lenses are generally fine, specially their mid-teles and tele-zooms were very good.
Their manual focus were top notch in the 70s and 80s IMHO.
I had a 70-300 for M42 which was very good.

That's an early Kiron (Kino Precision Industries) made lens. Probably pretty good too.
