A picture a day

Quite awesome!

Bat got to chase a group of 10 wild turkeys yesterday. They looked very comical slipping in the snow as they ran into the woods.

If you don't believe that birds are dinosaurs, watch wild turkeys run through grasses with their heads held high. Jurassic!

I wish I had it on video. These turkeys were so nervous of the dog they acted positively cartoonish.

Two for the week, snow is not going away any time soon.

, Iowa City! We probably don't get half as cold as where you are, I shouldn't complain about snow really.

It's 38 F here, just rode my human/electric bicycle to the store stocked up on some necessary items. If weather is decent I ride my machine everywhere. Good trail system here. Not a lot of snow this year Yet!
The light is lovely but the wind is fresh!

Tonight will be our coldest night of the year. I hope the pipes don't freeze and the cars start. Today's sunset illuminated the statue of the composer Paderewski sculpted by my great grandmother through the window of the door.

4 tries to start it. Nosehairs froze immediately. Even the rear view mirror froze for a few minutes while driving.

Woke up this morning to a couple gunshots and a lot of police cars. They had their flashing lights on but no sirens. Didn't seem too urgent. Not sure what happened, maybe they had to put an animal down or something.

Anyway, this weekend I tried out the homemade camera in sunny, contrasty conditions which I hoped would work better with its soft focus lens than the flat light I've tested it in previously. It was 7F but it felt fine with the sun and no wind. Now that I finally have a viewfinder the camera is much better to use.
