A picture a day

Wonderful relaxing image and nice to be able to see that from your yard. In our winter a palm tree would have no hope of existing.

I love it!

Both very nice.

Working on a bunch of Acros images for the next couple weeks.

limits and clouds IV

Having some fun and exploring the possibilities for a few small contact prints made using in carbon transfer process. Just one printing session so far. Nothing ground-breaking. The exposures are a little long, so it is a slow process. About an hour or so under 300W LEDs (395 wavelength units).

This is a poorly reproduced (iPhone, more sharpness in the print, dusty) 5x7 photogram of a few crow feathers from the session. Transferred onto fixed-out photopaper. It is tempting to transfer onto glass...it would certainly resolve the issue of paper curl with the resulting thick gelatin layer, and increase the impact of the raised relief. It would be interesting to try once I find a nice receipe. My next session will use about half the pigment.

One can never predict what surprises one might find at our local favorite thrift store. This was my discovery today. And yes, the cans were empty, and no they didn't leave with me.
After all, who needs 1000 foot microfilm film cans anyways?

Still one of the best ways to back up documents. Estar base, last for a very long time.

You can probably store a bunch of 36 exposure 35mm film cans inside a 1000 ft can. I have some small thin metal toolboxes that I use for that purpose while traveling, makes taking them out of my bag easy and offers a small amount of x-ray shielding for when you can't get a hand check.

First tomatoes of the year from the garden, very late, but delicious.

Happy experimenting!

Finally got to see the Olympic flame up close

And well, this guy also made it to the Tuileries...

Today’s harvest.

Just back from a short trip to Asheville, NC. The Blue Ridge Mountains never disappoint. I took a film camera and was too busy to use it unfortunately, so iPhone to the rescue.

Today we visited the Orford Ness nuclear test site and shingle spit. Quite bizar site.
