Registrations are NOW open for the Aussie and EnZed Print exchange, Round #18!

Signup closes on the 8th of February, with prints required by the 1st of April

Before we continue, there are a few things I would like to stipulate:
  • If you want to be involved, you must be committed to printing and sending by the time frames specified below. This will mean it will be a trouble free and enjoyable exercise with minimal fuss!
  • If we have less then 5 participants, the round will be cancelled and picked up again if and when there is more interest, OR promoted via other means to drum up interest.

OK, here is the nitty gritty.

How it works:
  • Groups will be of similar/equal numbers not exceeding 12 people depending on how many people sign up
  • Each person makes a number of identical prints for the others in their group and posts it to the organizer (me) along with an info sheet on how you made the print and what ever other information you wish to share
  • The organiser collates everyone's prints and sends you back one print from each person in the group.

The rules:
  • Entry is open to Australian, New Zealand and approved ex-pat A/NZ members.
  • Prints must be no larger then 8 inches on the short side and 10 inches on the long side. For example, 8x8 prints are OK. 8x10 prints are also OK. But 10x10 prints are too big and can't be forwarded on to the other participants.
  • Prints must be unmounted
  • Prints must be from analog media (ie. negative/transparency, film/paper) and must be produced using an analogue process. This excludes: inkjet prints, mini lab prints, laser prints, etc - basically, if a computer sent it to the device that printed it, its out. Photos taken with a digital camera are not permitted.
  • If you want to try something that includes a alternative process workflow, send me a PM and I'll hear your case.
  • You have to tell us how you made the print
  • You must post the prints to the organizer (address will be PM'd after sign-up) before the close date.
  • For Australian particpants, include a stamped self addressed envelope that is large enough for 8x10 prints. You are responsible for ensuring correct postage and adequate protection for the prints from the postage system, water damage etc. Whatever protection you provide for the prints will be the same for the prints returned to you.
  • New Zealand and Ex-pat participants can send me funds via Paypal to cover return postage and packaging of their set of prints. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT POSTAGE TOO AND FROM AUSTRALIA CAN BE EXPENSIVE. Please keep this in mind before you register.
  • Late dispatches of prints to the organizer for what ever reason is discouraged as it delays the return of all prints for that group. If prints are going to be late, that participant ('Laggard') is to advise all in the group, and if the others so decide the organizer will return the collected prints, and the 'Laggard' will be responsible for sending out their prints to the individuals of the group. The 'Laggard' will also have a set of prints held with the organizer that they have to arrange postage for.
The dates:
  • Round #18 - Jan/Apr 2019
  • Sign up by the 8th of February.
  • Prints made and sent to me no later than 1st of April.
  • Prints exchanged and returned for comments during the month of April.
If you want to be involved, please post a reply to this thread.

Let the fun begin!

Currently still working in renos so my normal free time is pretty full. Also haven't gone out shooting in a while. I'll let you know closer to the cutoff.

Hey folks.

No interest this time?

Nudge noted! Count me in... I enjoy the opportunity to share my work even if what I do is no good! The overall benefit is keeping the flame alive! No need to spend a fortune... postage there and back works out at about $10. For further savings one can print smaller sizes i.e. 5x7 etc. Mmmm! Very unAustralian not to be in it! We shouldn’t let a willing worker get away with it either... :D:angel::whistling:

I'll probably be in it too. I'll confirm before the cut off date. I enjoy it too, seeing the range of subjects and techniques .

Hello fellow travellers... just to let you know my prints left the Gold Coast today headed to Hoffy in South Australia! Included in the package a bonus print! Yes... free stuff. I‘ve been messing around (having fun actually) with Caffenol and discovered, after a few false starts that Woolies Home Brand coffee, a product of Mexico @ 500g for A$11, is better used developing film than actually drinking the stuff! While I don’t believe I achieved the touted ISO speed enhancement I can tell you that my finished developed negatives are just beautiful! I used outdated Ilford Pan F+ bracketing exposures from 25iso through to 200iso developed in my brew for 20min @ 20c - the negatives printing easily using Grades 2.5 to 3 in a diffuser enlarger. Maybe the developing time could be 10% more? I noted the film edge printing to be less dense than I am used to seeing.other developers produce with this same film batch. All up I reckon the per film “chemical” only printing cost is around A$0.50c ea. Not bad!

I'm planning to experiment with a potential subject tomorrow. It's a bit different but I'm looking forward to trying it. If this happens to be unsuccessful I have some other recent piccies I can use.

Kevin... good luck!
Thanks, Fred. Looking at the negatives I'm quite pleased. I'll hopefully do some test prints tomorrow. It's a whole new type of photography for me, at least part of the process is and the other part of the process I tried years ago (with moderate success). There's a lot of guesswork involved as it's not really able to be metered.

I know what I'm going to print and have done a test run but just have to get darkroom access. Might be printing on the 25th.

Thanks Kevin.

Now, time for a confession. I think I might be the laggard. Last weekend I was supposed to print, but I felt a bit off. My plan then was tonight tomorrow. Unfortunately, there was a reason why I was a bit off. I've gotten the damn shingles! Down my back and side, so flapping my arms around at the moment is a bit painful!

So, this weekend is out for printing. Next weekend is out as well, so that pushes me into the last weekend of March. I should be good to go then.

If there is a delay, I will keep you well informed.
