Afternoon All,

Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, the Aussie Print Exchange is back for Round #14.

As per the "Future Of....." thread, there has been one slight change. From now on, we will no longer accept prints that have been made via digital means. This excludes: inkjet prints, mini lab prints, laser prints, etc - basically, if a computer sent it to the device that printed it, its out. Sorry, but the tribe has spoken.

If you want to try something that includes a alternative process workflow, maybe send me a PM and I'll hear your case.

Registrations are NOW open!

Before we continue, there are a few things I would like to stipulate:
  • If you want to be involved, you must be committed to printing and sending by the time frames specified below. This will mean it will be a trouble free and enjoyable exercise with minimal fuss!
  • If we have less then 5 participants, the round will be cancelled and picked up again if and when there is more interest.

OK, here is the nitty gritty.

How it works:

  • Groups will be of similar/equal numbers not exceeding 12 people depending on how many people sign up
  • Each person makes a number of identical prints for the others in their group and posts it to the organizer (me) along with an info sheet on how you made the print and what ever other information you wish to share
  • The organiser collates everyone's prints and sends you back one print from each person in the group.

The rules:

  • Entry is open to Australian and New Zealand members, or those "International" members who have an affinity to our fine southern lands.
  • Prints must be no larger then 8 inches on the short side and 10 inches on the long side. For example, 8x8 prints are OK. 8x10 prints are also OK. But 10x10 prints are too big and can't be forwarded on to the other participants.
  • Prints must be unmounted
  • Prints must be from analog media (ie. negative/transparency, film/paper) and must be produced using an analogue process. This excludes: inkjet prints, mini lab prints, laser prints, etc - basically, if a computer sent it to the device that printed it, its out. Photos taken with a digital camera are not permitted.
  • You have to tell us how you made the print
  • You must post the prints to the organizer (address will be PM'd after sign-up) before the close date, include stamped self addressed envelope that is large enough for 8x10 prints. You are responsible for ensuring correct postage and adequate protection for the prints from the postage system, water damage etc. Whatever protection you provide for the prints will be the same for the prints returned to you.
  • International participants can send me some funds via Paypal to cover return postage of their set of prints. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT POSTAGE TOO AND FROM AUSTRALIA CAN BE EXPENSIVE. Please keep this in mind before you register.
  • Late dispatches of prints to the organizer for what ever reason is discouraged as it delays the return of all prints for that group. If prints are going to be late, that participant ('Laggard') is to advise all in the group, and if the others so decide the organizer will return the collected prints, and the 'Laggard' will be responsible for sending out their prints to the individuals of the group. The 'Laggard' will also have a set of prints held with the organizer that they have to arrange postage for.

The dates:

Round #14 - September/December 2017
Sign up by the 1st of October.
Prints made and sent to me no later than 30th of November.
Prints exchanged and returned for comments during the month of December.

If you want to be involved, please post a reply to this thread.

Are you in?
