Here is a good book for aspiring emulsion makers.

"From Kodachrome to Instant Color", the history of Silver Halide emulsion chemistry, by Harry E. Roberts.

I have no idea regarding its availability, but it does cover everything from "A" to "Z" so to speak, giving a full history with references in its 21 chapters.

I recommend it.

I wonder if the family has an additional copies? That's a book that needs to be preserved and made available for people to buy.

OSA (Optical Society of America, now The Optical Society) has a ton of articles related to photographic emulsions as well, going back to at least the 1930s. Obviously, I wouldn't expect the same width and depth of research compared to the proprietary stuff generated by Kodak Research Lab, but I'd expect to see some interesting nuggets in the mix. Some of the author names would be familiar (like the Gold Sensitization of Photographic Emulsion write-up by F.W.H. Mueller). Most deal with applications which use emulsions, but a keyword search revealed a few that deal with improving emulsion sensitivity for certain applications (such as holography starting in the 1960s).

Also reminded me that I need to renew my OSA / SPIE memberships.

It looks to be a pretty rare book, do you have any publisher information? Does it have an ISBN?

Wanted to see if it was available in the library. Title and author bring up nothing. Did as ISBN number search by title and author, nothing. The only reference on the net we were able to find is from Amazon, with no info, and states its not available. Checked numerous on line used book stores, nothing for author or title. Must have been perhaps a private limited printing.

I cannot help on any of these questions. As I stated above, I have no information on availability.

Yep, believe the availability was very limited, for family, friends and associates ect. So you have a gift to treasure.
As stated per Amazon:

Product details

The ASIN number is "... a 10-character alphanumeric unique identifier assigned by Amazon.com and its partners for product identification within the Amazon organization."
