I don't think so.

What would the 'normal size' be?
Keep in mind that contemporary display resolutions range from around 72dpi (larger and somewhat older/low end desktop displays) to roughly 550dpi or so (modern high end smartphones).

Iowa (a US state) is home to large wind power farms. The "cloud" where folks store their 100 gazillion digital images are actually huge server farms in places like Iowa. Microsoft and others boast "zero carbon", think what could be saved if the power was put to better use?

And yes a Pentax 67 is what the new SLR should resemble 😊

I'd love to see the eye control that Canon used in the A2e/EOS5 in the 90's. That worked surprisingly well for me. I'd like to be able to pick a focus point simply by looking at it.

I would also like that, except it would have to be improved.
The story about that feature was that for a significant percentage of possible purchasers, the feature wouldn't work. And the thing that made it a retailer's nightmare was that it was usually difficult to determine whether it was unsuitable for a particular customer until after they had had a chance to try it out.
You really don't want to sell a product with a vaunted feature that may or may not work for a customer!
It works for me, both with and without glasses (two separate calibrations).

Just an aside, like almost all my posts here on Photrio, this comment is coming from a long time member who also happens to be a voluntary moderator here. We have received a report that served as a reminder that sometimes that isn't always clear to everybody. You can safely assume that if we aren't talking about the operation of the site, our posts reflect our individual, non-moderator's opinions only.
Even if a post is about site operation, in most cases only Sean has real familiarity with how the settings in the software "back-end" work or can be modified, so at best my comment on such things is going to be based on what I've picked up by participating in the threads.
If anyone is unsure whether something we post is coming from "management", and it matters in what you intend to do, feel free to report that post and ask. And in turn, I for one will try to consider whether things might be unclear in a particular situation and label more obviously whenever I'm posting wearing my moderator's "hat".

It is time for something a bit different. How about a mail-in service to send Pentax your beloved LX and Pentax does a complete CLA with .... drum roll please ... a complete board swap! That's right they do a complete mechanical overhaul and replace the aging electronic circuit board with a brand new one. Same specs, same everything except that is more durable than the original board. There is no need to make a perfect camera more perfect.

Wow ..... that would be a nice thing to have!

If a new Pentax was just like a Nikon N80, it would be perfect. But then again, I can get an excellent N80 for $20 so no need for a new Pentax.

N80 is a real good working horse, same with F100.
But ( sorry ) I used to use two N80 with data back.
I really used them a lot.

But at the same time the cameras are the resason that I will never again buy a camera with just a faint hint of plastic.

No Plastic please.jpg

NO PLASTIC PLEASE !

perhaps you know the F55, F60, F65, N80, F100 problem with

P.L.B. 🤔..... = P. lastic L.atches B.rocken ...😿! Both N80 are on

the fritz ⚒️🔧⛏️😖!

OK. you can replace the back, but a new data back caused from a plastic part of 0,4 cent.......🥶!

There is a member on this site who has a metal repair kit in case you have a broken latch on an N80 or F100.

I'm preventing mine from breaking by holding the latch open when I close the door, then releasing it, so it never snaps shut.

I would assume the best way to go about it would be to take an existing digital camera and just put a film transport on it. If I could wish for a top of the line SLR then it would probably have:
-support for electronically stabilized lenses and/or in-body film stabilization
this could give us multiple stops' worth of stabilization for shooting in the dark, it would help bring film more on par with digital without needing a tripod.
-motor winder that can shoot at multiple frames per second
I would probably never use this but it's a cool feature anyway.
-that eye-tracking autofocus Canon used to make
-EXIF recording to a memory chip in the camera
-rewind rolls with leader sticking out
-memory that remembers how many frames were shot on a roll
you would probably use a sharpie to write roll #X on each roll so you know which is which, but this lets you swap rolls and resume shooting where you left off. You could easily swap speeds or color/B&W.
-electronically controlled mask allowing one to shoot half frames or square frames
this could also be tracked by the camera.

there's a lot of cool things they could do if they wanted to and thought it would sell.

I know Huss, there are different repairs for this problem. A good tape will also help for a while.
But some years ago I sent both of them into early retirement.

Now when I shot film with Nikon I use this beast :

like stepping out of a Toyota to sit in a tank......

I have removed a number of off-topic images from the opening post. I agree that non-essential imagery should be kept to a bare minimum for obvious reasons of readability and bandwidth consumption.

Coincidentally, have you realized that transferring data is not free, either? "Our major finding is that the Internet uses an average of about 5 kWh to support the utilization of every GB of data" - many publications with findings of a similar nature are available. Please limit the use of off-topic images, and limit the dimensions of embedded images to the smallest size that still works for their purpose. I find that a dimensions beyond ca. 800x600px tend to offer little added value for the vast majority of illustrations.

Glad you posted this. Bandwidth costs money. I have a large SM site in development and bandwidth costs are my major concern. This forum is not free or even inexpensive to run. I try to upload small files to this site with that in mind. And everyone should be paying to play. Just sayin'.

The Nikomat is ok, but I much prefer the Nikkormat.

Lol. Me, too. The loss of the double k is an obvious cost-cutting measure. I sure wouldn't risk pounding in a tent stake with it like I can with my Nikkormat FTn.
