Hello everyone!
I should say right off the bat that I'm not much of a photographer. (Though I've recently been making some feeble attempts.) At this point I'd consider myself more of a beginner alt-process print maker. My interest in photographs and photography really blossomed when I inherited a family photo archive after my grandfather passed away. My grandfather worked at Kodak for most of his life as a chemical engineer and there have been avid amateur photographers in my family going back to the mid-1800s. Digitizing the massive family archive dropped me down a rabbit hole and I ended up amassing a sizable collection of discarded negatives ("vernacular" photographs with unknown origins, unrelated to my family). This then lead me to be curious about alt-process printing methods... which lead me here. I've spent the past month or two learning about alt-process printing, digital negatives, setting up a "dim room" space in my basement, and finally printing a few things.
I've learned quite a bit from the threads in this forum. I'm joining to say thanks and to perhaps participate... instead of just lurk.
By the way... if there is anyone in the eastern Pennsylvania area who does alt-process printing and would like to connect, please don't hesitate to message me. I didn't move here that long ago and would love to meet locals with shared interests.
