Hi everybody,

I have to stay in Stockholm tomorrow (what a total shame! ) and I wonder where to go. I'd really like to see the sea as I'm stuck in Bavaria most of the time. Can you recommend a day trip on the shore? I have a car and a GPS.

Thanks a lot,

Antje

Hi,

there is plenty of water in Stockholm itself, as it resides on a number of interconnected islands. So you may just stroll around (with your LF on a trolley?) and have a good days sightseeing - don't miss the Old Town with its alleys and beautiful buildings, you should also go to the adjacent Riddarholmen with a great view of the water, city hall and more.

To get a flavor of the archipelago, you could take the car to Vaxholm, an island outside Stockholm, which is a drive about 40 km to the NE. Take the E18 North towards Norrtälje about 20 km and take the Vaxholm exit, continue another 20 km or so and you are there. Small town with old fishingharbour (Norrhamnen) with buildings from the 1600's as well as the Fortress just across from the hotel. Restaurants and small shops.

Regards,
/Henrik

Funny, I didn't read your reply before I left, but that was exactly what I did. It was wonderful.

I'm just heartbroken that I have to leave tomorrow.

Good to hear! Hope you got some nice pix. Summer has finally arrived here, and you were lucky to catch the nice weather.
