What beautiful lenses. Nice! The Summaron requires some sort of clip-on holder for filters or filters with a clamp? Interesting.

Likely "Series" filters, like early mounted on original thread mount lenses, before threaded filter mounts were common.
Be aware these push on filters can scratch lenses.

Leitz was annoying about filters. Just plain annoying.

Likely because they did not want badly taken filtered photographs and slides, out in the wild, and degrading the Leica lens mythology.

Far more likely is filters were not a concern when designing the Elmar 50 and 35.

Little excuse for lenses thereafter, though.
