Oh, please. APUG has the lowest melodrama quotient of any online forum I've ever seen. I was just on the "wrong" side of a film vs. digital thread, and saw little but civil discussion of the issue at hand, even though I'm sure some of you would like to help me shoot my digicam somewhere an endoscope would be more appropriate.
In stark contrast is dpreview.com, where Nikon and Canon users lay in wait in each other's forums, just itching for a chance to be evil. Way too many threads that start out with legitimate gripes/questions end up as "Your camera sucks" "Your camera sucks worse".
It's funny, but it seems this has reinforced a prejudice I hold onto in real life. When I'm shooting digital, and someone walks up and starts talking cameras, I'm vaguely annoyed, and try to just get it over with. Most of them are people I really don't think I'd care to know. When I'm shooting my Mamiya Press or Linhof Color, though, I seem to meet the nicest people, and will gladly talk as long as they're interested.
