A Bromoil ink supplier

I have been looking for an ink for the Bromoil process and finally think I one found one. I watched a video on youtube and googled lithography inks 1796 because that is what the man said he was using and I found this. Turns out this can of ink looks exactly like the one he has in the video so I think I go it. Just wanted to share incase anyone was having the same trouble I have been having trying to find what ink and where to get it for Bromoil.

I've kept them bookmarked for a shile - I bought some from Bostick & Sullivan and it was pretty much a hockey puck when it arrived! David Lewis also sells ink and paper from his website, he says that his paper is some sort of ultimate bromoil paper with visible relief after bleaching - but he only sells 8x10.

Well I have half of my Bromoil supplies in. The bleach and a brush and the rest are do Monday. I will make a couple prints this weekend getting ready to try this thing.

I've been very impressed with this book, a wealth of information. If you hunt around the internets, you might find one for $5-$10, too - this copy is $40 or so.

There's also Gene Laughter's "Bromoil 101", but that doesn't seem to show up often (I've never read it).

And, the whole Gryspeerdt video series is on youtube, pretty cool to watch how fast he bangs out a 16x20 print.

Thank you for the tip. I found me one for $18 including shipping. I like Bromoil the best of all alt-photo processes (with carbon printing in a close finish) for it gives me the most creative leisure during the process. And the prints are just stunning.

Re ink for Bromoil process. Why not use lithographic ink, as the basis of process are quite similar.

Yep that is what I finally did order. I hope to feel a little better tonight because I really want to make a print and start trying this. I have everything now just need to get going on it. I just found this video and I am so ready to try this because the forest around me is my main project right now and I really like the print in this image on the video. I think my woods would make great subject for my Bromoils.

The link posted by the OP is lithographic ink.

I saw a website some time ago where a guy posted a lot of bromoils, some of them quite small. Some of them said he used Grumbacher artist oil paint that had dried for some time. But iuf you've ever done a bromoil... man, that's some sticky ink.

Looking at the video, I would ask why is the bleach/tanning process being done in the dark?
