9x12cm Pocket Dalco...........Patent Euti

I started a thread sometime back about this camera. It was before I received it and the seller said it was 6X9cm. Well, after I received the camera I found out it was actually 9X12cm instead. It came with no lens and I then set forth to find one. My problem with finding the right lens was I didn't know whether this camera originally came with a dial-set Compur shutter or a rim-set Compur shutter. Truthfully, I still don't know, but stuck a dial-set on for now. This is a very nice camera and I would like to make it as original as possible. I have enough film holders with film inserts so I can and have used the camera. So, does anyone know which shutter/lens combo originally came on this camera?

McKeown's (1992-93) shows a picture with dial set Compur. (Quick ebay search shows it mostly was so equipped.)

I have a 6x9 Patent Etui and it came with a rim set Compur (like modern shutters) and a Zeiss Tessar. I seem to recall there were several lenses that they came with. Couldn't tell you what they were though. I ain't that old....

They are remarkable cameras. It is hard to believe that a camera comes out of that little package. I've never actually used mine. Shame really. One of these days...

Yes, the red color is why I bought it in the first place. I have two others that are black. Yes, what other camera is so close to 4X5 film size and is this small. Fits nicely in the pocket of my cargo pants, but I don't carry it there because I don't like it banging on my leg when I walk. Patrick, you should pickup some film and give yours a try. JohnW

Yes, it's the nicest one I have. I'll probably keep this one for a spell and sell my other two further down the road.

I've seen Patent Etuis with both dial-set and rim-set Compur. They were made long enough to span the change-over period. I owned one for a while; it had a triplet lens in a rim-set shutter, and was marked as a "Kawee Kamera" and "Ihagee".

I have also had a few with both shutters, but I'm beginning to think this camera should have a rim-set. I'm not going to change it out until I know for sure. When our weather turns a little warmer I will take it out for a test drive. You really have to see a Patent Etui in person to know just how small a 4x5 camera could be.

Yep, I've got a couple 6x9 folders that are about the same volume my 9x12 Patent Etui was, and almost as big in footprint (longer and narrower), because of the film chambers on the ends of the gate).
