Hi,
Three questions and hopefully at least three answers.
1) What size is the lensboard on a Plaubel Peco Jr. 9x12cm camera? I have one in the 6.5x9cm size, but I think the 9x12 camera uses a larger size board.
2) What size is the metal plate that fits into the rear standard - you know the plate that has the groundglass back on it? 162mm square?
3) Did Plaubel make an international standards back that will take double sided 9x12cm or 4x5 inch holders instead of the single sided metal holders?

Maybe someone can help me understand all this.

thank you!

These camera aren't that common, so don't expect immediate answers

Pre-WWII German cameras took a variety of non standard plate/film holders, no-one's documented all the variations etc so far.

Later Plaubels took International film holders, where a 9x12 holder has the same outside dimension as 5x4, but they aren't backwards compatible.

I'm sorry about being impatient for answers.
I'm asking about the post war little monorail cameras that came in a tiny one for 6.5x9cm and a larger one for 9x12cm, they were both called Plaubel Peco Junior. Apparently, Plaubel called many of their cameras Peco.
The Peco Jr. 6.5x9 uses a board about 95mm sq. The larger Provia and Universal cameras used a board about 162mmsq. But I can't seem to find out what the little 9x12 Peco Jr. used. I also don't understand the backs, they look like international backs, some even have a bail, but they don't use the international slide in film holders.

Check out this APUG link from a few years back - about half way down they have the sizes of the front end.
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Ive, received some good help on the lensboard end and I thank you for it.
Does anyone know if the back pictured on this 9x12cm Peco Jr. uses single side metal European holders and if so, did they make a back for this camera that uses International Standard 9x12/4/4 holders like Fidelity, Graflex ect?

thanks again.

If you can post the Plaubel Part No. from the back I can possibly tell you what part you have.

I don't have this camera yet - thats why I'm asking. thinking about getting it.
If you look carefully at the areas I've circled, you'll see two "L" shaped pieces on the end of the groundglass panel instead of the bevel that one might see with an International back that takes slide in holders.
I wish I could give you the part number but I can't see it.
thank you for all the help. i figured there is always good help here.

Those probably just hold the glass in place on the focus frame there's 2 at the bottom as well, look on this page the Supra has the same back, but here it's got a double dark-slide in place.

My De Vere monorail opens the same way to insert a dark-slide. I've just checked a Plaubel advert and by 1954 they are using the"Spring loaded focussing screen for Double Plate holders" 9x12cm 5"x4" and the one your talking about is newer. No company went back to the old non standard holders, the International backs were an ASA/BS/DIN standard fit.

I recently received a Plabel Peco Profia (post 1970) 5x7 from Germany assuming the back that was on it was a universal 5x7 for the double sided holders but it turned out to be for the single narrow sheet film holder that was 12x16.5cm. To make it usable I had to find the 5x7 standard back for it. All the backs that came with it were European size.

Hi Gord,
I believe you. I recently got a 6x9cm back for a the little Peco Jr. The back looked like a standard spring back with the easy open bail and all. Once I received it I could see that it indeed was for the single sided metal holders. I think the one in the picture that I posted is for the single side metal holders.
