I have struggled with getting a decent lamp for both general darkroom lighting and print evaluation. It can be a difficult decision (at least for me) because we rarely know the light that’s going to be illuminating a photo hanging on the wall. I had a 4’ shop light with some decent (but not photo quality) fluorescent bulbs and the ballast failed- so I went shopping for a high CRI LED replacement. The replacement arrived today and it looks and works well. I was seeing prices in the $100’s of dollars and high minimum orders as I was searching until I found this $99, 95 CRI LED shop light for artists. I would have preferred 4000k to split the difference between daylight and tungsten, but 5000k should do the job. It’s also available in a 6500k version. It takes 2-3 seconds for the lamps to extinguish completely BTW. Here is the link if anyone’s interested
