Today I picked up a ann. Speed Graphic With a graflok back and a 90mm Optar lens on it. All I really wanted was the back , but all of it for a "C" note I just couldn't turn down . I shot a test sheet of film and it's suprised me how sharp that little lens is . does anyone know what the coverage of this lens is at infinity. I might have to turn this camera into a user instead of parts.

I believe at infinity it is 80dg. So not a lot of movement available. These lenses were made to shoot wide open on press cameras so movements were not of great concern. They are not the quality of modern lenses, but for a light lens they can be a good performer.

i always thougth the 90mm raptar and 90mm optar were the same lens.
i had a raptar for close to 10 years and used it as my "normal" lens shooting architecture &C and never ran out of image circle when using a view camera. i guess i know now that they are different lenses.

Is this an example of the oft heard/quoted "some optars were made by wollensak and later ones were made by rodenstock"?
