For Sale 9 1/2" Lancaster Achromatic Meniscus in Ilex 4 Shutter

This is a Lancaster Landscape Meniscus 9 1/2" that has been mounted nicely in an Ilex 4 shutter.


None of the original barrel or script remains, so the Lancaster name is lost. It was destroyed accidentally in a lathe trying to mount the lens in the original barrel. So no Lancaster provenance beyond my good word.


The Ilex 4 is running great. A little fast at 1 sec. which is the nature of these beasties. Very easy to use this lens and superb soft focus results. You can see a good size ding in the glass. It doesn't hurt the performance at all.


This covers 8X10 and I'll include an image made with it on the 8X10 in the next post. But where this would really be most superb is as a 4X5 portrait lens. Gorgeous!

Also note the original TR cells are included. They came with the shutter. They have sort of a botched repair job with bubbles, but in use are at least as sharp as any other TR set I've ever used. Very sharp.

Perhaps a pic of the front of the shutter. The largest I use is an Ilex #5 and am not familiar the the Compound.
