This is the earliest Wollensak Vesta I've seen to date! I'm going to guess 1909 - ish.
The Vesta is less than a stop slower than it's Vitax counterpart. It's an f5! lens. Very fast, but the idea was to be able to take these into the field.
This will just fit on a Sinar or 6X6 lens board! It's a 14" lens, perfect for 8X10 portraiture, yet not relegated to the studio like it's f4 brethren. These old guys knew exactly what they were doing!
I spent several hours (like half a day) on this Studio shutter and I'm happy to report that it's working flawlessly. You'll just need a bulb and some tubing.
In photo 2 you can see that the front shade is bent back a bit from a drop some time in it's 100 years. Glass is perfect at the rear, but someone got after the front once upon a time with a shirt sleeve and left us some cleaning sleaks. WILL NOT affect performance. This will be a pleasure in use.
OK, cheap is relative. Wish I could get $3500 for it like the Dallmeyer's that don't perform any better, but I'll have to be happy with $625. You pay shipping.
