hi umut

i don't know the camera but i think it is a SUPER 8, not regular 8mm ( if that matters? ) so i think
it has a bigger image frame ( i think ? )

i found a little film made with its waterproof cousin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpeHrgZchQ0
it looks like it has a sharp and contrasty lens.
( at least from the video )

i'm not sure if you found this forum or not
http://8mmforum.film-tech.com/
but there are people who shoot the eumig there
they might be able to give you a better idea of
the batter issues or if there is a better camera for your purposes.

you might also be able to find a bolex with a switar lens
c, b , l , h 8, all very nice, and very nice optics, and also
able to go 1 frame at a time ( something to think about at least )
swiss made, and built like a tank ( no batteries ! )
(lots on ebay, not 5$ though  )

good luck !

I watched few videos about Super 8 cameras including Eumig Mini 3 and Bolex. All terrible , it is a crazy idea , Leicinas were around 60 dollars sometimes, I think I should stick to Leica.

Thank you John, Videos opened my eyes.

There are great S-8 cameras out there. And some weird ones.
One day you''ll come across one that you will really like. And if that one should even be in fine condition you are a lucky guy.

Does it have a battery problem ?

Battery problems are typical for S-8 cameras. Either they still got alcaline batteries inside, that had been leaking (meter drain, camera not switched off) or the meter uses a seperate mercury battery, which typically is dead.

Thank you all.

This is my second attemp to 8mm cameras for single frame work. After my thread , John posted some frame scans , they were one of the most intense colored positives I have ever seen. I can not forget the French blue skies and the sea. John , you got most intense colors and youtube posted most dull colors. What is your secret ? Is it because of Ektachrome few stops shot darker ?

Who produces 8mm film , is there velvia or modern films at the market with very very saturated colors ? Not Holga stuff but looks like dye imbibition.

Thank you Europan , thats exactly solves one of the biggest problems in my mind.

Who sells European and American 8mm cameras out of ebay.
I think time to join John's forum

Wow, I looked to ebay and Bolex cameras goes from 50 to 150 , too many examples. I think I can even buy from APUG , tried and tested. Looked to Kodak , there are many color films available including Ektachrome. I will wait summer , sell all my cameras and buy a Bolex. And shot 1600 or so crazy colored frames per roll and send it to telecine. Request special color retouching before the scans. 1600 frames makes 45 rolls of Kodak film , with scan and development costs me 450 dollars least. I think for 200 dollars , I can get 1600 frames scanned with telecine and preretouched. I can buy a lookup machine also.
