What options exist for those of us interested in getting into 7x17 after the great Kodak and Ilford film orders? I use T Max 400 in 8x10 size. I see 7x17 T Max 400 listed as a future at JandC, but in ten sheet boxes. Will T Max 400 be available in boxes of a higher number than ten sheets from any source? What US or Canadian vendors will support new customers in any brand 7x17 size film? I've got a freezer, but is there any 7x17 film I can put in it?

Thank you,

John Powers

Yes,

I like efke PL 100.....get it from J and C one of our main sponsors...he also will get you the Kodak and the Ilford...

check scooterman's gallery...has a recent one up on page 2 today in the critique....using Pl 100 on 7 x 17 he gets beautiful results with it...more affordable also than the Kodak and is in 25 sheets per box

It's scootermm, actually.

(and I've heard that he's bought ALL of the 7x17 film ...)

The major thing keeping me from buying a 7 x 17 camera and associated accoutrements has been the fact that 400TMax was only available in 8 x 10 and 4 x 5. Now that it's available in ULF sizes I may take the plunge.

I'll pay anything to get TMax and take it however it's packaged. Efke's ok, but I've had boxes of PL100 which a) didn't fit my Kodak holders b) was scratched or c) was fogged. John will of course make it right for me, but the problem with quality control problems with film is that you can only find out about them the hard way. My time, travel expenses and labor in developing the film are the real cost of exposing film.

I'd buy all the 400TMax I could get my hands on from JandC and freeze it. Then I'd buy my camera. If I can put together the money I will, in fact.

Simple answer is no. - T Max 400 will NOT be available in boxes with larger sheets per box than 10. I requested 25 sheets per box from Kodak when we negotiated the deal with Kodak but they opted to stay with the 10 sheets per box. Cheaper in the 10 sheet box, but it obviously consumes a tremendous amount of storage space. It is easily possible to double the black plastic septums per box (20 sheets) per box and you will be fine.

Best we could do. Nobody else but J&C is selling it.

Cheers!

c6h6o3, whooo. I don't want to get into a bidding war with that attitude.
Dave and agGNOME thank you for the links. Anyone else have ideas on sources?

Thanks,

John Powers

The T-Max 400 is available from J&C in the large sheet sizes. In co-operation with J&C I will be selling the large sizes in Canada at www.bigcameraworkshops.com. I'm waiting like everyone else for the first order.

Dido what Dave says here, PL100 and PL25 (out dated) is about all I can get right now in 11x14, I'm waiting for the Tmax and JandC400 as well.

The EFKE films are great just watch the handling for scratches and you'll be ok, I'm going to slowly switch to 400 speed films for the low lighting conditions that I've slowly migrated to.

good luck
