7x17 negative protection

I built a 7x17 pinhole camera. The only thing that I cannot find is some type of sleeve or folder to protect the negative. Does anybody know where I can find some thing to protect negatives of this size?

The View Camera Store sometimes has 7x17" sleeves. Click on "Business Directory," and you should find them.

I use four-fold paper envelopes I buy from Conservation Resources, but for 8x10's. You would have to make your own out of acid-free paper for 7x17 and the size paper you need might make it difficult...21"x51". You might be better off with just a single fold envelope using 14x17 and storing them in a box that would keep the dust out.

They state that they make special sizes, but I do not know if 7x17 would be possible for them.

They do have archival storage boxes that are 11.5x17.25x3.25

Their products are excellent...hope this might help. Their storage boxes are much superior to those I have gotten from Light Impressions.

7x17

There are currently some 7x17 sleeves on that famous auction site. Under cameras and photo type in 7x17.

Another less expensive option is to use tyvek envelopes. Hollinger states that it's archival and that's good enough for me, as long as you get untreated.

I don't think its available in 7x17 but you can get rolls of it.

I have stored a few hundred 7x17 negs over the last year or so... I buy an 11x17 "print presentation" sleeve from www.printfile.com
they are here ...

they cost about $29 for 100 of them and it usually takes a while to fill all 100 hundred. They are the thinner 6mil ones so they dont take up nearly as much room as the 16mil ones and are completely clear so they are easy to throw the neg on a light box or handle without worrying about scratches.
I noticed the sleeves on Ebay but my only criticism is I dont like the concept that I may not be able to continue to get those exact sleeves and Id rather use a product that I am pretty sure Ill be able to continually get so that all my negs are in the same sort of sleeves. This may not be an issue for you, but its something I personally find to be important.

I store my 7X17" negatives in the top loading boxes from Hollinger. Some of the negatives are stored in specially made print sleeves for 7X17" negatives, and then are placed in an acid free paper I buy from Light Impressions called Renaissance paper. The paper comes in a size that when you fold it over it is almost perfect for a 7X17" negative and the Hollinger boxes. I ran out of the plastic print sleeves and don't plan to get any more because I think the negative is really better off stored in the folded paper.

You can also use Renaissance tissue, which is lighter and costs less, but I prefer the paper.

I use the same as Sandy. I have used the Renaissance tissue and Apollo tissue from LI. The Apollo paper or tissue is about the same as the Renaissance but the Apollo is buffered where the Renaissance is not. I was told the buffered would be better for storing negatives because of this. But either will work well. I then store them in the Hollinger boxes. The Hollinger boxes are probably the best bang for the buck out there.
