70s 80s Industrial Design Secrets , psychology and APUG

I ask simple questions to myself and than go from there. I was asking myself why I was loving Bang and Olufsen designs. I invested lots of research and I found a doctoral thesis on Bang Olufsen. It was simly saying , these 70s designs gives a impressiom to the user , control.

Lets go from there to second example , there was mitsubishi colts at 80s. Its side mirror was controlled by 8 buttons when you can do it with your hand in 1 seconds. I read that japanese manufacturers found that big portion of people have lack of self trust and its complexities and when you give them 8 buttons , they think they do lots of things and satisfy their pyschology.

Japanese amps made with big displays and lots of buttons and they only work good at max setting. When you change something , it goes bad but the buttons still there.

What is the reflection of above to APUG ?

I think 90s ideals for nordic people were socialist but product prices were for few rich people. We live socialist ideals for a price for an banker. Bastartized ideals , confused minds and highest suicide rate in the world.

I am 70 80s boy and I had all the french american book thick hi fi magazines. They were different from the 90s , they were like gas meters or scientific microscope.

I used few japanese cameras in my life and I read a bronica thread , you cant make more puzzle than that camera , why ? read above

Mustafa you make great posts and conversations.
I agree, I am attracted to those simple and unique designs.
Same reason I covet the Citroen DS.
Here in the USA my tastes are "contrarian".

My 1982 B&O RX table is still goin'. Feeds my 68 yr old McIntosh power amp (also have the last McIntosh pre-amp w/built-in EQ).

I've always been fond of B&O design, though my CD player and turntable haven't had much love for quite a while.

I think buttons and gimcracks got added by many manufactures as a way to make the products look more impressive. I guess it was also a way to add features that looked good on a spec. sheet or brochure, but didn't add any real value.

My automobile taste varies from 60s open top american cars to beetles. And yes DS is a wonderful design but its technology is poor and engine works like an tractor sound I never used a good hi fi or my best hi fi was sony walkmans. Tape area was wonderful and I never got same amplitude , frequency separation at cds.

I was thinking the same , why they feel impressive because they feel you can control with these sets as much powerful as their sizes. But it was a lie.

NOW , people got annoyed to learn if they depress a ugly plastic single button on telephone , they can get 3 times bigger vresolution than their film scans. I am taking scans of my films and max size is 17mb but telephone takes 42 mb. People gets annoyed and critic that single button , they want buttons , rings , many lenses , many backs , films , developers , yes this is good but think once again , this is a doctoral thesis question , what is the psychological background of APUG community , how many of them uses the cameras for their satisfy their lack of self trust psychology ? And how many of them really controls their art ?
