6x6 ? 106? 8 exposures? French Formats...

I am trying to learn something about a roll film format with the film box marked:
"106"
It was made in France in the 1950's
The box also has "8 exposures, 6x6" written on it...

There IS a Kodak spool code (?) number "106"
but it is stated (by wikipedia) to have come to an end in 1924...

Anyone familiar with French use of such a format?
Was there something special about "106" ?

What make is the film? (I'm wondering whether other makers might have used a different numbering system to Kodak's?)

And that says "Last listed in Kodak Dealers Catalog" in 1924, rather than actually discontinued? So maybe other makers did supply it much later? Would be interesting to know which cameras it fitted?

It was made by Lumiere...
Since it says 6x6... I figure it to be cm... perhaps same width as 120....

Lumiere was a French company, so presumable metric 6x6 cm? In which case the spool might be very similar to a 120?

If Kodak 106 gave pictures of 3.5 inches, that film must have been around 9 cm wide?

Thats why I sort of doubt this could be the Kodak number... There must have been a French meaning to that"106" ... Is there a French APUG? or other French photo/photo history site?

I just did a quick search on google.fr in French, and didn't get any hits that. Here's a link to the Wikipedia in French where film sizes are discussed, and there's no mention of size 106:

I think surely there must be someone who knows about that format;
maybe I will hunt around for a French Photo-history or camera group or something.
