If I do stick my toe into this format, is there any reason to choose a Linhoff with Superangulon 90mm over the Fuji with the Fujinon 105? Or vice versa.

These are basic cameras - a box with a film holder on one end and a lens on the other. As such, there is not difference in them. The Linhof has a better viewfinder, though.

I would suggest looking at two other option:

The first is the Chinese cameras - DaYi and Gaoersi. Heaps cheaper and add interchangeable lens options at realistic prices. Built like tanks.

Second, I would strongly suggest looking at Shen Hao's two 6x17cm field camera options. These offer technical camera movements AND lens options that don't take up huge amounts of room in your camera case.

I have both (DaYi Shift II and Shen Hao non-folding 617). I travel the world with the Shen and 4 lenses (72mm, 120mm, 210mm and 300mm), all in a carry-on bag. And at less than half the price of a Linhof with one lens...

I have the Linhof with the 90mm and 180mm. I've heard from some users that Linhof's 90 is sharper than the Fuji 105, but I think that's all subjective...I've never seen anything to prove that. It's built like a tank and has been with me through some crazy places and has yet to fail me. Viewfinders are all incredibly bright and the optics are out of this world.
