Hi, at least the one I have read about like the Shen Hao. The 617 roll film back device has a keyhole peep window so you wind the film so the numbers on the film backing paper appears. Is it important to close this hole every time a photo is taken? What happens if you are shooting in the night and you cannot read the numbers, can you shine a flashlight at it?

Cheers

I cannot say how much it matters if you remember to close the window or not. I think it depends on the backing paper and the amount of surrounding light. I can however tell you from experience that it is OK to use a flashlight.

When I had one, I was just in the habit of keeping it closed between shots and never had any light leaks. I suppose it would depend on how bright the ambient light was and the speed of the film.

Sunlight can, depending on the backing paper, be bright enough to bleed through.

A small flashlight's fine.
