for those of you using a 6x17 format, how do you print your images? Do you scan and print, use an enlarger, or send it out to a lab to print?

I am interested particularly with regard to colour images, although any info on printing black and white 6x17 would also be helpful.

6x17 should be printable with a 5x7" enlarger.

As David said 5x7 will do.
I just got a 617 camera and will have the same problem with colors. For B&W i can use my 138S but for colors i would need to try to widen a negative holder on my Beseler 45MXT
Anyone know how much of a 6x17 a beseler could print?

If you decide to get a scan, I suggest a Creo scan. It's a high-end flatbed. Have a wet scan done and have a pigment print made from the scan. It's not a silver process but I do a fair amount of this and the prints I have made compare well with Dye-Transfers done in the past. You may want to talk to your printer before ordering the scan.

Chrome in San Diego Ca has a Scitex-Creo machine. Have a look at their web page. The custom scans are at the bottom of the scan page.

I made a neg holder for my De Vere 5108, which is perfect for B&W or colour, although at the moment I'm not shooting any colour film - purely B&W.

I realise this is an old thread but do / did you have any problems with regard to the film keeping reasonably flat and staying in consistent focus across the negative?

Tom

I'm not printing color. I have a 5x7 Zone VI setup with VC green and blue cold light tubes. I had SKG modify a 6x6 carrier. There's no heat to deal with the film is held reasonably flat. Seems to work fine. I have a 180mm El Nikkor for 6x17. I plan to shoot some Fujichrome this summer, will probably scan. I would love to have a fancy Heiland led head, no way on my budget . I get great results with VC black and white.
Best Regards Mike

Hi Tom, no I've had no issues keeping the 617 negatives flat, I do use a small piece of tape at either end to keep the film taught.

Tom, I made my 617 carrier from cardboard, actually mounting board would be better, I bought some Aluminium sheet to make some carriers for 7x5 as as well as 617 but haven't got around to it yet :D

I have scan 617 with V700 Epson flatbed and Flextight 848 and print to 6 feet long using inkjet. Gorgeous stuff.
