Here is a rarity. A 600mm lens that doesn't cost as much as a car, isn't as dark as a coal mine, and isn't a junk mirror lens! Olympus led the photo world into the realm of downsizing with their OM series of 35mm film cameras and backed it with a mighty array of lenses, all of it very high quality. I like bird photography, but I also like to eat and I need my car, so the lenses in this size-range that I could afford were limited. I lucked upon this beauty.

It easily adapts to Canon's EOS mount. I can include the adapter if you want. That's how I used it. It's an unusual design that Olympus came up with to reduce the size, weight, complexity, and cost of the lens. It uses a rack-and-pinion gear mechanism to focus. You can see the rack in the last photo. It takes some getting used to and this is not the lens for bird-in-flight photography unless your reflexes are quicker than a hummingbird's. But for perched or wading birds or to 'compress' a landscape, it's great.

It comes with the original aluminum case and both caps. The front cap is aluminum (alloy?), just like the lens body. It threads on. The hood is built in, and is also metal. The Tripod mount is a big chunk of metal, also visible in the last photo. It is not removable, but the lens can rotate to allow for vertical format shots. There are a couple scratches and a scuff or two, but nothing beyond cosmetic.

There is a small flake of the front element's coating missing. I circled it in red on the next-to-last photo. Anything else you see is dust or a reflection. The flake does not affect performance. This lens only focuses down to something like 39 feet, so that fleck is never going to be visible in your photos. For closer work, extension tubes work wonders. I have a set of genuine Olympus x-tubes that fit, if you're interested.
