I have an Omega Chromega B Dichroic enlarger and soon will have a 6 x 7 camera. is it possible to get a 6 x 7 negative carrier for this enlarger? or does 6 x 7 need a special enlarger? the largest neg carrier I have is 2 1/4 x 2 1/4"...

and what would be the best lens to use (75mm?). I'll keep searchin...

The 6x7 needs a unique carrier, since it is larger than the 6x6. If you have an extra 6x6, you can carefully cut out an extra bit to make the room needed; however, not only is this time consuming given the additional time for cutting of metal but unless you are very diligent in filing and sanding the metal afterwards, you risk having a splinter or shard scratch your hand or worse, the negative. I would recommend buying a 6x7 carrier from eBay.

Use at least a 75mm lens, or a 90mm if you have it. Otherwise, your head height to make an 8x10 print is ridiculously high and there can be significant cropping of the negative since the lens can't get the whole image.

If I recall correctly, the Omega Chromega B Dichroic head was made for the B22 and B66 chassis. Both of those were 6x6 enlargers. The C760 enlarger was the follow up that went to 6x7. So I'm not sure you can find a 6x7 carrier for a 6x6 chassis or will get proper illumination of a 6x7 negative.

The typical model nomenclature:
B=6x6 cm
C=6x7 cm
D=4x5 inches
E=5x7 inches
F=8x10 inches

I'm happy to be corrected if mistaken. Been a while since dealing with these models.

I use the Chromega B with a 6x7 holder and 90mm lens. Works great. neg holders are available, you just have to do a little digging. Good Luck!

Harry Taylor also has 6x7 carriers listed for the B22 on his Omega classic enlargers site. So it looks like the B22 and B66 will do 6x7. Omega put out a wide range of B22, B66, C700, C760, 7600, and other models with varying combinations of chassis, head styles, and power supplies, so it's hard to keep track.

The name of my enlarger is a Chromega B Dichroic. It is not a Pro-Lab B66 (although the manual I have is for both a Pro-Lab B66 Condenser Enlarger and a Chromega B Dichroic Color Enlarger). I am assuming if they are both detailed in the same manual that they both can use a 6 x 7 neg carrier. Hmmm...

thebanana, do you have the same enlarger as me? Where did you get your carrier? I'll check Harry Taylor for carriers, just don't want to get one before I know for sure it will work with my enlarger.

A little follow-up...

Also, is 80mm lens is enough coverage for printing off a 6 x 7 negative? Or should I print with an 90mm or...maybe...a 105mm? For EL-Nikkors there are only 80mm and 105mm I believe...

It sounds like the same enlarger. The one I use has a rotating lens fixture, so there are actually 3 lenses attached to it (50mm, 80mm and 105mm). You should be OK with the 80mm, but I often use the 105mm. It's just a preference though.

Omega Superchromega B enlarger...thebanana and I use the same enlarger at the same facility!

Neg carriers are really easy to come by, either here or on similar forums or eBay.
