Hi !
I've got a 5x7 back for my Norma.
Now I need to by DDS for it.
But, here in Europe, one can buy numerous 13x18 cm DDS and scarce 5x7 DDS.
So what size sees more film available ? 5x7 or 13x18 ? Or are the film sheet dimension the same ?
Thanks for your help !

5x7 film is available relatively easily, try Silverprint in London.

However 13x18 will be far more difficult to find, 5x7 is historically a US format hence the scarcity of DDS's in Europe. The British Imperial sizes were Half plate & Whole plate.

Put a Wanted add in the Classifieds on this site you might strike lucky.

The film is different. Here 5x7 is much more common. There? No idea -)

Used 5x7 holders are hard to find right now. Only Shen Hao is currently making new ones. Fotoman is working on making a batch. Hopefully when more of these new ones hit the market some people might sell off their used ones. But at the moment you just keep your eyes open.

5x7 DDS are very hard to find. some film is available in 13x18 and half plate and you can get those holders, but much less film than is available in 5x7. It is no longer the case that colour 13x18 is easily available.

Isn't it true that the 5x7 and 13x18 film holders have the same outside dimensions, and can be used interchangeably on the same camera?

It is.

And there are still more colour film available in 13x18 than in 5x7" - as far as I've been able to find out there are three Ektachromes in 13x18, and none in 5x7"!
