Anyone know where I can get a hold of some boxes suitable for storing 5x7 negs until I'm able to develop them? I'm going on a trip and I'd like to be able to unload my film every night and reload. I've got various 4x5 boxes, but I'm pretty new to 5x7 and don't have any spares, any ideas? Thanks!
If all else fails, a seven inch length of 2" ABS drain pipe, carefully deburred and fitted with the slip-on, cement type caps, is light tight and won't scratch film; each one can hold several nested sheets, curled emulsion in. Bulkier than 5x7 film boxes, but readily available with a quick trip to the home improvement store. Be sure to tell them what you're doing with the pipe -- you'll make their day!
Isaac, I threw away my first couple of empty boxes, but I have managed to squirrel away2 empty 5x7 boxes that I know of and once I load my film holders this week I will have another one. They are smaller 25 sheet boxes, but I still have the interior part of the box and the black film bag for one of the 2 empty boxes. If you'll pay the shipping I can mail them to you (I won't have the money for a trip any time soon and should have some more empties by then anyway)--it's not much, but you can store 75 sheets this way. Maybe someone else with an empty 100sheet box or two will chime in.
Call Photo Warehouse (www.photowarehouse.biz) or anyone else that cuts their own film. They should have empty 5x7 film boxes and would probably sell them cheap.
Thanks for the offers guys! I hadn't thought of calling photo wharhouse (I guess Freestyle would be another possibility) but I might give them a holler too. I'll be doing some portrait work during that week along with my usual landscape stuff. Normally, I wouldn't need more than the film in my holders, but LFF availible light portraiture can be a bit hit or miss, so I'm going to burn some film... Check your mailboxes guys
