So I'm looking for a 50mm lens for my FE2
I'm stuck between the 50mm 1.8 Series E. 50mm f/2 AIS. and the 50mm 1.8D
In my location the series E and the f/2 can be had for roughly the same price(59 dollars).
But for the 50mm 1.8D, its 109 for it.
So I'm not sure should I go for the old but gold or buy new just in case the old breaks apart.
Keep in mind the 1.8D is second hand with a 30 day warranty.
Thanks
In your case get the 50mm f/2 AIS. It's would be nicest to use on the FE2...

There wasn't a 50mm f/2 AIS, only AI were made. I have an early AI version and it is excellent.I'm stuck between the 50mm 1.8 Series E. 50mm f/2 AIS. and the 50mm 1.8D
As a curiosity, I have a 50mm f/1.8 AIS with rubber focusing ring and a minimum distance of 0.45m and no "rabbit ears". It is part of a series only sold in Japan, but I bought it second hand in the UK!The series E and the latest AiS 1.8/50 without coupling has only a minimum distance of 0.6 m and has a simplified coating.
Any of these will be good. I'd be inclined to get a new AF-D lens simply because it will have the most modern lens coatings and a warranty, but they're all good lenses.
Incidentally a Canon 50/1.4 will set you back nearly $500 new.
