I’m continuing to clear out some items from my darkroom and studio that I no longer need.

This listing is for nearly all of the needed parts for a 4x5 to 6x10 expansion back project. Here is a link to an old blog post to read more about the project and how it all goes together. It was also discussed in this thread.

Apparently I’m not the only person interested in this unusual 6x10 format. A number of people have reached out to me since I shared the project to ask about extra 6x10 film holders and spare parts, but then no one follows up after I list what I have so I’m posting it all here as a package deal. These are fairly hard to find items in an unusual format so I won’t break this up. Everything goes together and this contains almost everything you’d need to complete your own 6x10 expansion back project.

Some additional context and what you’ll need to complete it:
I built my project around my Deardorff 4x5 Special. If you look at the photos, you’ll see that the front bellows frame is no longer on the bellows. I needed that for another project so took it off. You will need to make your own front bellows frame anyway to mate this to your existing 4x5 camera. Unless you’re doing something really unusual, it should be the only part you’ll need to make to get everything to go together. Also, there are 8 screws which work as risers connecting the bottom of the ground glass back frame to the Toyo assembly. These are set to the height that was needed to center the spring back according to the geometry of my Deardorff. If you use a different camera you may need to change out the screws to longer or shorter ones to center the spring back on your particular camera— an easy job.

Comes with five 6x10 holders. The holders are in user condition and some will need a little bit of servicing. Some of the wood is old and lifting in some areas on a few and the light trap hinge tape may need to be replaced / taped over on some. Thats all easy work with wood glue and gaffers tape. All of the holders come with their own matching dark slides.

I had fun with this project and just am not using it so letting the parts go to a new home. I’m not trying to profit here so just asking what will cover the cost of most of the parts I gathered for the project which are included here. If you’ve set out on a project like this you’ll see that my price is more than fair (doesn’t include cost of bellows etc).

Asking $450 or best offer + $35 shipping (within the US, $65 international)

This would be great for someone who wants to use the 6x10 format with an existing camera and doesn’t want to deal with searching and tracking down all these parts. It could also easily be used as parts for an entire 6x10 camera build. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
