4x5 slosher tray

Can anyone show me what a slosher tray looks like? I keep hearing about them but I can't seem to find a photo referance. I'm thinking of using this technique if I can figure out how to make one my self.

Sloshers work very well indeed. I have a 4x5, and a 5x7 Summitek Cradle:

Do an APUG search on slosher.

I also have a 4x5 summitek cradle (picked mine up 2nd hand, but I've never seen another for sale used--that should tell you something!) which I use for 4x5 and 3x4 negatives. They work wonderfully.

I just made a slosher out of an old Kodak 2x2 hanger

I've been doing alot of 4x5 work these past few weeks.

Although I have no problem tray developing, I'm getting tired of being knuckle deep in chemistry.

I'm been wanting to build a slosher for a good long while and I even had the plexiglass to do it.

I was just about to dive into a build when I notice the 14 or so 2x2 hangers I had on hand. I have neither the space not the tanks to use them as designed so I have sacrificed one (shutter) to slosherdom.

All i did was hack-saw off the hanger section; de-burr the edges; and then drill a while in the center for a handle (a metal post, in my case).

It fits perfectly in my Paterson 8x10 trays.

I'll do some souping with it this week to determine how evenly developing proceeds.

I like the idea of Phil Bard's processing panel. It's cheap and looks to be as effective as any of the other solutions available. If you're into DIY, this is a simple one to make.

My home made slosher tray/basket

Here's my slosher tray(basket) that I made for 4 x 5 negs. Perforated plastic sheet from the Craft department at Walmart and hot melt glue. The sheets (about 15" x 20") were about $5 for a package of 5. The sheets easily cut with scissors. Slosher basket is sized to fit into 11 x 14 trays. So far, it has worked great.

A pf 4x5 slosher tray has been bullet proof in my experience.
