4x5 on 12x16" paper

How would you lay out a 4x5 shot on a 12x16" piece of paper?

Hort or vert?

I'm just asking what looks nice really, horizontally or vertically. What size would you print it to and with what size borders. Oh, and 4x5 being the negative sorry, not the size of the print. I want to print it 10x8 or bigger

The ratio of a 4x5 negagive is 1:1.25. I like to use all of the negative if I can so with at least a one inch border one inch border my image size would be 13x10. This, obviously would give me a 1.5 inch border on the long side. If I was intending to crop I would go 14x10 just to make the border symetrical

Sorry if I seem a bit dense. What is the final presentation method and size? If the final size is 12x16 (not matted to a larger size), it will be difficult to get a real clean presentation (IMO) since the proportions of the (full-frame) image and the paper are so different. It would work better for vertical images than it would for horts.

That said, I prefer several inches of border around images. On a 12x16 paper, a 7x8.75 image gives one 2.5 to 3.5 borders, which would be my minimum. But an 8x10 does give one 2 and 3 inch borders, which is not too bad.

For an informal presentation, Adrian's suggestion of a 10x13 image size would give sufficient border for handling the print.
