I made this a number of years ago, when I had a lot of lenses mounted on 4x4 lensboards. With this adapter, I used them on an 8X10 Deardorff, which takes round-cornered 6X6 lensboards.

There are extra holes drilled through this board to allow a Packard to be mounted on the back. I'll be happy to fill up the holes, if the buyer so desires.

Where I come from, this is called a Dutch Auction (probably with some pejorative implications, for which I apologize to anyone of Netherlands heritage!) and is used to annoy cheapskates who always want a discount from the asking price. What a wonderful way to exact retribution!

You guys who think that waiting till the last moment is the way to get a good deal must remember that the first to say "mine" gets it. Unlike in the other type of auction, there is no way to outbid any other bidder. You either beat your fellows to it and be the first, or you get nothing.
And there's no way of sussing out the competition; you don't know when any other person interested will say "mine".

So, are you willing to miss out on getting this thing for $5 because it can be free the next day?
When, at what price will you consider it a deal too good to miss?


It is a very effective way of auctioning, by the way, because it does away with the 'spiel' of bidders upping their bids in turn. So it's fast (that is: as fast as the auctioneer wants it to be. If you are going to wait for a day between successive price drops, it's not.) and can't go on for ever.
And it always achieves the true value of the item sold, while the normal type of auction attracts too many bargain hunters, hoping to get things for less than they are worth, wasting time by bidding to below the true value, and then quitting just short of achieving a price something can actually be sold for. Unless there is at least one serious bidder, an auction can turn out to be a lengthy waste of everyone's time.
