3D printed tripod holster for SEI Exposure Photometer

Hey all, I've been leaving my SEI meter at home a lot lately because its a bit of a pain to use in the field. It doesn't fit in a pocket, and there's not much to grab onto to get a lanyard around it. And even if you did, its quite a dense lunk to have swinging around you neck.

I've had it in my head that it'd be cool to have a place on my tripod to attach it to so I could take readings, easily set it down, and pick it back up again to check/recheck the exposure as I'm working on a composition. Before now this would require me to squat down and get it from my backpack over and over. So I preferred to just take my Canon T90 and use that instead with its nice camera strap.

But this weekend I had an opportunity to use a 3D printer so I thought I'd give my idea a shot and I think what I ended up coming up with actually works pretty well for how simple it is!

I was thinking I'd have it hang down using the perpendicular viewfinder features. But I didn't account for the color balance and ND filter knobs so it only fits upside down lol. But actually its really snug and I don't think this is all that bad. I'll try another version that corrects this when I get a chance, but for now, I'm pretty happy with it!




It also works well when the tripod is folded up

Did a minor redesign this morning so the main diameter should fit, and it extends around the front a little bit to hopefully "click" into place. The fingers should also clear the dials too. I'll have to wait till next weekend to print it. Gotta say, I'm a huge fan of Fusion 360, a very intuitive CAD program, things have progressed lightyears since I was learning Autocad in high school years ago.
