Has anyone tried the 3880 for digital negatives. From what I've heard, the 3800 is about the printer of choice for digital negatives. But, I'm wondering if the 3900 would do equally well?

Is there a change in print head technology for the 3880?

Interesting question, i think the 3880 has another ink catridge compared with the 3800 to increase the color gamet, I hope they have sorted out the photo black/matt black switching problem and have both blacks online all the time, switching is a pain and i lose about 5% ink...grrr

The 3880 has the same number of cartridges but uses the newer inks with vivid magentas. Magenta doesn't play a big part in digi-negs and I don't know if there are other factors that would make it better than the 3800 for digital negs, but I doubt it.

I ask, because the 3800 works well because of its print head. It doesn't show the vertical banding that are at a right angle to the direction of the print head, and which are characteristic of earlier heads.

Hopefully, that unfortunate characteristic wasn't re-introduced in the 3880.
