I shot another trial roll yesterday, along with the end of a roll of the new Ektachrome. The Lab processed it this morning.
The two rolls were each shot in Olympus bodies - OM-4T for the Ektachrome and OM-2S for the Fuji Velvia (from Lot 18).
I used the same lens for each comparison shot, switching from body to body, in each case relying on a Manfrotto quick mount shoe on each camera and a Manfotto ball head on my tripod.
I set both cameras for the box speed of the loaded film - 100 for the Ektachrome, 50 for the Velvia and relied on the off the film metering built into both bodies. I used the same aperture setting for each set of matched comparison shots.
The shots were bracketed: 2/3 less than what the camera meter indicated, what the camera meter indicated, and 2/3 more than what the camera meter indicated.
My conclusions:
1) the Fuji film hasn't lost any material amount of speed or contrast;
2) the Fuji film shows a very slight shift to the magenta - small enough to be pleasing to some; and
3) the Fuji film looks like Velvia, and the new Ektachrome film looks like Ektachrome

Here is a side by side digital camera comparison of a couple of the bracketed test shots - still in sleeving material, and not particularly well adjusted for the colour temperature of the backlight:
And here is a digital camera shot of the slides from the Fuji roll in a Printfile page - also not particularly well adjusted for the colour temperature of the backlight:
