35mm point and shoot vs phone

When you use a 35mm point and shoot, it is much easier to just ignore a telephone call interruption.

My two cents ... I don't really have a 35mm P&S, I did/do own a Canon Elph Jr which worked quite well but has become shelf decoration with the collapse of the APS empire. I use my phone a lot (currently an iPhone 6s) but I think there should be an international law that any device that can function as a camera should have the lens mounted within the central one third area of the package! That stupid lens in one corner is far too often catching the side of a finger in shots, and in bright sun it's really difficult to see the LCD screen well enough to tell something is amiss (another phone flaw).

I admit, my current P&S electrocutes bits (Canon G15) but has an (increasingly rare) optical viewfinder available. The film gear comes out for more thoughtful shooting that requires more than "pointing."

Well here I am on the SF Bay in the heart of techie land, and there are all kinds of hills, forests, and beaches right around here with no cell phone coverage. But I did give my wife an underwater digi P&S for our Hawaii vacations, simply because I couldn't justify the cost of a film Nikonos. She is slowly learning to use it for higher contrast scenes on land too. Better images than a cell phone, but really more suitable for sharing pictures of sea turtles and coral over the web than anything serious.
