I have a Fujica Half 1.9 I have been tooling around with in one way or another. Its had a roll of 400tx in it forever. Teeny little thing but it's not too bad for an $8 Goodwill score.

I have two Bell & Howell Dial 35's, a Pen EE-2, A Konica Auto-Reflex, and a Mercury II (which is just slightly larger than half-frame). Half-frame is a lot of fun, but it takes me forever to finish a roll of film.

I have a Tessina I haven't shot in years, got too expensive to get prints made as it's not exactly 1/2 frame. Now that I'm getting into developing I may get it out as I have the loader and numerous cassettes.

I'd never even heard of half-fram until I saw this thread! Those Olympus Pen models sounds incredible and definitely something I would want to play around with. Are they incredibly expensive or something that the average person (like me) can afford to get into?

They run a range, but pretty affordable. An ee can be had for 30.00 while an ft will run near 300.00. Deals can be found. Love half frame, been shooting them for years.

Yet another half frame shooter chiming in. I have a Pen EE for the portrait-oriented half frame shots and a Yashica Samurai X4 for the landscape-oriented shots. I like them both, but honestly, the Pen gets the most use.

Apart from 35mm half frame, I also have a 120 half frame camera; my Bronica RF645 is actually a half frame 6x9 camera.

sync'd shutter glass meniscus lens .. futuristic die cast aluminum design
like a holga from venus ... still, only 24 frames though, i gotta have at least 72
when i half frame

Gee, I never though of the 6.45 format as being hal frame 6x9. I've been shooting half frame 6x9 for some decades with my Bronica ETRS. I seem to learn something new every time I hit this site.

I have had a number of half frame cameras over the years but the only two I have retained is a Konica AA35, which I bought new in the 1980's, and a Yashica Samurai half frame SLR, which I got second-hand. I rarely use them but must unearth them & give them another go. There are still labs in the UK who will print from half-frame and even a couple who will scan to CD.

The Konica AA-35 is a nice little camera as it will easily slide into a shirt pocket. Autoexposure is good on it and built in flash. Amazing they got so much in such a think package. Only weak point is the battery door that tends to breakoff.

I have a little Penti I and always carry it with me when other cameras would be to big, heavy or expensive.
It's rather primitive and needs film in SL-canisters (very hard to find and you have to load them yourself from bulk rolls), but other than that it's pretty nice. The lens is a 3 element Domiplan 30mm/3,5 and the shutter goes from B to 1/125. But don't be fooled by these specs... Stopped down to f/8, it can produce pictures that can be enlarged to 8x12" and still look decently sharp. Of course you have to deal with massive grain, but that's one of the reasons, I love the smaller formats. With the slow shutter, the most used film is Polypan F at 50ASA.

I'd love to have a Pen F, but that's just a dream for the day I have too much money to spare...

I also built a half-frame 120 pinhole camera once... it took 24 3x6cm panoramic pictures on one film. That's one pretty cool format and I really wonder, why none of the "real camera makers" have ever thought of that.
