35mm half frame users?

Just a quick message to say hi. I just joined APUG.
So....as the title says, any half frame fans here? I have formats from 16mm submini to 6X9 folders but always keep a Olympus Pen S in the pocket. Haven't been without a 18X24mm camera since I purchased my first Pen in 1972. Would be nice to here from other half frame users.

i use a pen ft and love it !
as a matter of fact i almost have a roll from it
to process
i wish i had a leica to ft mount ...
dreams i guess ...

Jnanian, yeah, the Pen F/FT are great. I have a Pen F and 3 lens setup. Makes a great travel set. If you are talking about Leica M mount to Pen F adapters, well there is no space to make an adapter that will allow the lens to focus to infinity. The Pen F flange to film distance is 28.95mm and Leica M is 27.8mm. The Pen F will take a variety of SLR lenses but there are no current adapters being made and so adapters for Olympus OM, Nikon F, and M42 mounts command very high prices.

There isn't a 17.5 forum, f-stop was kidding.

Welcome to APUG. I haven't used half frame since I borrowed a school camera in the 1970s, but I liked the Olympus Pen then, and really appreciated its influence on the full frame Olympus OM cameras I have used since then.

i only have the "normal" ( 38mm 1.8 ? ) lens its nice and i like keeping it simple
the leica lenses i have are screw mount is that m42 ?
i am clueless but enjoying myself even if i have to dream from time to time

Welcome! I recently got a Pen FT, but unfortunately it needs repair :-( The film advance is wonky, so a couple of times on each roll a bunch of frames will overlap badly. It is obviously worth getting repaired though!!

I shoot mostly medium format these days, but I always carry around my Bell & Howell Dial 35 (made by Canon). I don't get around to printing much from it, but it's just so much fun to use. I've found that it's the perfect camera for contra dancing.

Leica ltm is m39, m42 is Pentax screw mount.

I use a hybrid Halframe Fullframe camera the Konica Autoreflex, 18 x 24mm is a great format I simply love it .

jnanian, sorry, it's a no go with the LTM too. Same problem as the M mount, not enough room for an adapter that will still let the lens reach infinity.

Over at Rangefinder Forum, under 'half frame', at the top of the page there is a sticky. It is a link to a monograph written by Peter Dechert that contains a wealth of information about the Pen F system. It is a free download in PDF format, one copy, personal use only. Just thought some of you folks might be interested.

Welcome. I collected 1/2 frame cameras for some years decades ago when you could buy them all day long for a buck or two at the camera stores. They were being traded-in in droves. I had an almost complete collection of Olympus including the F, FT and FTV bodies. I found universally the Olympus lenses to be sending to none of the Japanese manufacturers. Finally a dealer wanted the collection and we struck a dealer.

The Konica Autoreflex is a killer slr. I loved using it but every once in a while I forgot to advance the film after switching. It went with the collection and if it had not, it probably would still be my only 35mm slr system today.

I had the Dial 35 in both the Canon and Bell & Howell badges. An interesting camera but with the winder being so large it sort of defeated the compact body size. The winders on these were a weak point and I saw many that could not be wound.

Todat I still have a Konica AA-35 with the typical battery door issue. I can use it by taping the battery door shut. It is a very practical camera in that it is thin enough to actually be a shirt pocket camera. I had it put away and forgotten until only a short time ago when I happened across it. It is sitting out ready to be loaded and put back in service.
