Am about to purchase a bulk 100ft roll but rollei retro 100 is no longer available........so I have narrowed my choice to rollei retro 80s or fomapan 100 are there any strong opinions out there as to which might be a superior choice?

I bought a 100 ft roll of Fomapan 100 for the kids to shoot. I have a pile of it in the Arista label in 135 and 120, like it alot. I don't shoot that much in 35mm, except short rolls for testing cameras and lenses, but it was the bulk of my 120 shooting until recently, bought some Shanghai GP3 100(very good film).

Freestyle sells FOMAPAN as EDU ULTRA. Not to be confusied with teh other ARISTA products.

It is great film, be aware that the foma/ultra bulk rolls come with no edge printing (Blank both sides)

You don't say what type of look you are interested in, but for a traditional emulsion Ilford FP4+ would also be a good choice. Also, the last time I looked, Freestyle had a very attractive price on some out of date (May 2011) Legacy Pro 100 which is reputed to be relabeled Fuji Acros. I have been using the latter and getting good results from it.

I bought a bulk roll of Rollei Retro 80s earlier this year and stand developed all the rolls I shot with it and got pretty good and pretty great results. It's fairly contrasty but stand developing helps to tame it a bit. I used it for mostly landscapes and it worked well. I haven't yet tried fomapan 100 yet.
