3/8 Tripod Mounting Plate Screws

I built a pinhole camera quite a while ago and for reasons I can not remember I use 3/8” threads for the tripod mounting holes. I hadn’t used the camera since I had built it but decided to press it into service for WPPD. Lol, what a surprise when I went to install the quick release plate on the camera, as I had completely forgotten about the thread size. Went through all of my tripod stuff and the only 3/8” screw I could find was too short. I ended up modifying a couple of stainless steel flathead screws so that I could use the camera. I did one on Sunday morning for Pinhole Day and just did the second one today.

This is why I keep a threaded 1/4" to 3/8" adapter in many of my camera bags.
My Mamiya medium format cameras actually came with them installed.

That would have been the easy way, and I might actually have a couple 1/4-3/8 thread adapter floating around, but no idea where they are. So it was easier and quicker on a Sunday morning to go rummage through my collection of stainless steel screws and modify one. The other issues is that the 3/8” tee nut is recessed a little to much so my screws ended up 3/4” / 19mm long. Although I did have any successful exposures I did man to expose 5 sheets of paper in the camera so just the fact I got out with the camera on WPPD made the day a success. I was using expired rc photo paper which must have lost a lot of speed because at ISO 3 I got very under exposed images. Oh and I managed to load some of the sheets in the camera with the emulsion facing backwards. I’m go to get some fresh paper and do so exposure test to determine what ISO I need to rate the paper at. I also just got some 11x14 Ilford HP5 to use in the camera which is 5 1/2x14.
