From evilBay, here's one that does it (a Rittreck), but it's a 'system' camera, not a retrofit for Graflok or something like that: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166551020859
That is cool but I don't think that I want to buy a completely different camera. I was actually thinking of just building my own 2x3 insert for a normal 4x5 camera film back but I had hoped that someone else had already done something similar. I know that 2x3 sheet film is not that popular but I find it very handy in certain situations.
I'll check them out. Thanks. Like I said, I couldn't believe that no one had come up with something along the way. Of course I do have them for my Graflex 2x3 Series B but those don't look like they would be easy to adapt to a 4x5 camera. And of course the Graflex 23 back can adapt 6x9 roll film to a graflok system on 4x5 but that doesn't help with sheet film.
Horseman had a 6x9cm reducing back for their 4x5 cameras. This was a separate item from the 4x5 to 6x9 rollfilm back adapter.
It is a ground glass back that takes a 6x9(2x3) film holder with the groove on the top and bottom. The sliding metal keepers fit in the groove to keep the film holder tight against the back. It also accepts the standard 6x9 rollfilm back from the 6x9 cameras.
I bought one of these and converted it to Plaubel Peco Junior. Could fit 4x5 too. It's at the bottom of "View Camera Accessories".
6X9 Galvin Graflock back on steroids, will accept Graphic and Horseman rollfilm holders meant for a 6x9 back w/o the need to remove the GG back, with GG, outside dimensions 5X5", illustrated with 23RH10 rollback (not included), the spring does not obstruct the rollholders advance lever, new, $80. Will accept a 6X9 Grafmatic (not included). Will even accept a very thick 6X9 Graflarger back (not included)!
A peco junior or makiflex is 2x3,not 6.5x9 like a makina ( or I think a voigtlander avus ) i have seen a few of the older rollex backs 6.5x9(not linhof) that were slotted into what I can only guess is a 4x5 adapter. Just wondering if that is the case?
Ebony also made a 2x3 to 4x5 adapter
Huh? I have 2x3 Graphic, and 6.5x9cm Makina Backs, for both my Makiflexes and Peco Jr's. I also have older wind knob Linhof backs that fit my makiflexes using
Plaubel Adapters. I have started threads here on olde Makinas, Makiflexes, and Peco Juniors, if you want to see the pictures. BTW Makiflexes have a 9x9cm film gate, I also shoot 9x9cm on 9x12cm and 4x5 sheet film in my Makiflexes. So versatile!
My Galvin 2x3 takes 2.25x3.25 sheet film, though I tend to use the 6x9 roll film back. I suppose a graflok or other back could be made to take a ground glass and 2.25x3.25 holder on a 4x5 camera, though I went the other way and made an adapter to use 4x5 holders on the Galvin 2x3 (90x90mm frame).
It might be possible to make a frame like a 4x5 holder to take a 2.25x3.25 holder with the correct film registration. The trick would be making it so the smaller holder did not fall into the back of the camera!
