24mm Mitake lens in Nikon AI mount

I was wondering about a 24mm/ F 2.5 lens called Mitake Formula 5, made in Japan that came with a Nikon F that I recently bought (see this thread: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)).
Any one heard about it? Google doesn't return relevant info. Thanks

My best guess is that this lens was sold with the F in Japan.

Not sure about the Mitake part, but I do remember some lenses call Formula 5. The were off brand and sold at places like Blacks. Similar to the Image brand sold at the old Astral Photo.

There were any number of odd Named lenses made in popular lens mounts over the years. There were (are) several independent lens makers that would put any name on a lens if you ordered a minimum quantity. Large photo store chains used to have private label lenses all the time. It has become harder to make independent lenses for major camera brands because now with auto focusing and lens recognition the lenses have to be packed with special electronics.
