For Sale - Artar 24” Lens In Copal #3 Shutter – New – (New Old Stock)
Please read carefully. I bought the Artar and the shutter as new, (old stock) at a camera studio auction. The shutter had been sitting for who knows how long in storage, so I sent it to Precision Camera Works for a CLA. Both were then sent to S.K. Grimes to have the Artar mounted in the shutter. The Artar didn't play nice and needed to be cut away from the housing. I mention this as the price of the mounting increased beyond the standard price. The lens was then sent back to me and mounted onto a wooden lens board to be used on my 14x17 wet plate camera. Agreeably, this is not the best use of a 24” Artar in a shutter. I had planned to use the Artar with my 8x10 as well. The shutter allowed for both the 14x17 and 8x10. I mounted the lens on my Arca 8x10, took one exposure, and pulled a contact print. The results were insanely sharp. The lens was packed away and has never been used.
The lens and shutter are in pristine condition. I lack a studio setup to photograph the lens in a manner that will minimize reflections. Hopefully, the images will be a good reflection of the mint condition of the lens. The entire cost of this endeavor was beyond what I expected to pay, yet this is an exceptional lens. I had no issues with the lens covering 14x17. This is no average lens often listed on Ebay.
The lens includes custom lens caps from S.K. Grimes, and comes with either a Sinar, or Arca-Swiss board if needed. The price of shipping will include insurance and will be priced for the destination. I'll use either UPS, or FedEx. Feel free to send any questions my way.
