220 reel question, wide or standard?

I shoot 6x9(Fuji) and like the idea of reloading less. I also shoot Tri-x sometimes which is available in 220. Currently I process Tri-x with HC-110 in Dilution H(7.5ML per 500ML) for 12 minutes with 3 minute intervals between agitation. Love the negs and tonality using this so my question is this: Will I run into a problem with this dilution and semi stand method in 220 if I use the Standard Hewes Stainless type reels(half the solution per inch of film) or should I really be looking for the older Nikor extra wide 220 tanks and reels? Seems like the older Nikors would give me approximately the same amount of solution per inch of film. Guess I could use a double 220 tank with an empty reel loaded but one of my concerns is that with a standard smaller 220 reel, the film might be rolled too close and result in some sort of development problems. Any one have any experience or opinions. Thanks.

Do you mean a double 120/220 tank? I've the impression
that quite a few use a standard 220 reel. I'd think with
that working OK a two reel tank will do the trick.

I work a 120 reel using 500 ml of solution in a two reel
tank without the empty. Dan

Yes, I was thinking of a double 120 tank with only one roll of the standard 220 style reel loaded. Guess I will just give it try and see.

Dilution H is fine with 35 mm, which has the same solution per film area as 220 in a standard diameter reel (8 ounces, 240 ml, per standard roll). In fact, you can even use Dilution F (1+79) if you're so inclined; the basic requirement is to have at least 3 ml of syrup per 135 or 120 roll of film (so 6 ml per 220). I've used Dilution F many times for 35 mm and it works very nicely; there's no other tank loading I've seen that has more square inches per ounce of solution than 35 mm and 220.
