Avoid scheduling conflicts!

It's not too early to mark your 2015 calendar for the Puget Sound Photographic Collectors Society annual show at Kent Commons in Kent Washington:

Saturday, April 11, 2015. Approximately 130 tables of most anything related to photography, from subminiature to large format and from Daguerreotypes to Digital.

Info about the 2015 show is not posted yet on the club's website, and it's too early to order tables, but more details and table rental applications should be posted this spring on the club's web page: http://pspcs.org/212.html

If you'd like to be added to the club's email list of folks to receive an email reminder, shoot me a private message.

I always go to that, but being that I'm coming from far away, I arrive about noon. By then, I suppose all the really good stuff is gone. Back when the show was in Puyallup, I'd arrive on Friday with a seller and, before he could even unpack, other sellers were trying to buy his stuff. That's the *real* way to get what you want. Maybe buy a table, put a crappy Argus C-3 on it for $5000, and then spend the evening prowling the other tables

That's ok, I've pretty much got everything I want these days. Still, I'd like to come up with the Definitive Technique for Scanning Swap Meets. Does a person go in and scan all the tables at high speed, noting what's where, and then go back? Or does one just proceed slowly from the beginning? I spend hours at these things, going over the whole place multiple times. Sometimes my best buys are not cameras or lenses, but books or magazines.

An "early in" will get you admittance at 8am ahead of the general admission throng. But, you're right...get a table and you can set up Friday night ahead of the show. Some good things happen Friday night during setup, and there's usually a program Friday night

The earlier you get there, the more good buys you'll find. But not everyone is looking for the same stuff, so if what you are looking for isn't a "high demand" item, it may sit all day.

One good way to shop a swap meet is to first make a whirlwind tour of ALL of the tables, then go back for a closer look at each table, but still not spend 20 minutes at each table. Then, on a 3rd round you can start to spend more time at each table. But if there is a Hasselblad sitting on a table for $150, you'd best not be studying some off brand $3 enlarging lens for an hour that you aren't even particularly interested in, because super buys don't usually just sit and wait for you. (But!!! Sometimes they do--like my $25 Dagor!).

^Or, my $100 180/2.8 Nikkor ED AIS. That said, I should've gone for the pre-AI 300/4.5 ED. Suspect he would've taken $100 for that, if I'd offered it. Maybe $125 if he'd also thrown in my current 300/4.5 ED, which I purchased through Pacific Rim.

For some reason I can't get any of the pdf's to display or download (either from FB or PSPCS). What's the price of a table?

Went to one show with a seller when it was at the large Puyallup facility. On the night before, other sellers were trying to buy all his stuff as he unboxed it . That's the way to get the good stuff.

Tables are $30 ea. Send me your home email via PM and I'll have someone either send you an email or a table application.

They are tightening the aisles to get more tables.

Bob.

Yes - I managed to show up slightly after noon after a 3-hour drive -- I'm not an early bird and couldn't quite bring myself to set out on the road at 5am. A far cry from the days when I'd arrive with a seller on Friday night at the Puyallup venue.

I managed to get some nice things, so am quite pleased.
